Tom Cruise to Return For Mission: Impossible 5

Tom Cruise apparently has no intention of slowing down. The 50-year-old superstar just had a good deal of success with his sci-fi actioner Oblivion, which has earned $222 million worldwide, and he has plenty of projects in the works -- The Man From U.N.C.L.E., All You Need Is Kill and Our Name Is Adam, for starters.

Deadline reports now Cruise has signed on for the fifth installment in the Mission: Impossible franchise, something the actor talked about last fall.

No writer or director has been announced, but word has been that Cruise will re-team with director Christopher McQuarrie. The two first worked together on Valkyrie, which McQuarrie wrote for Bryan Singer to direct. McQuarrie also directed Cruise in Jack Reacher, which grossed nearly $217 million worldwide. Just recently The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that McQuarrie will be helming a remake of Ice Station Zebra for Warner Bros., although neither film has a set start date or estimated release.
