Tom Cruise Out, Henry Cavill in as The Man From U.N.C.L.E.

The Man of Steel is looking to become the Man From U.N.C.L.E..

Just days after Tom Cruise exited director Guy Ritchie’s adaptation of the 1960s spy series, Variety reports that Henry Cavill has entered talks with Warner Bros. to replace the Mission: Impossible star. The Superman actor would co-star with Armie Hammer, the two of them cast as agents of the United Network Command for Law and Enforcement.

It’s been a tough road for U.N.C.L.E., with numerous casting and creative shakeups along the way. Before Cruise was attached and ultimately dropped out, George Clooney was slated to star. And before Ritchie came along, U.N.C.L.E. was eyed by Steven Soderbergh as his final feature film as a director. Numerous other actors including Johnny Depp and Channing Tatum had previously circled the project. For now, it appears that the WB have finally found their Man.

Production on U.N.C.L.E. is expected to begin this fall.
