The delinquents of Tokyo Revengers are set to make their epic anime return in a new season.

The Season 2 announcement teaser was shared on YouTube, giving viewers a glimpse of the upcoming Christmas Showdown arc and confirming a release window of January 2023. The voice actors for several new characters have been confirmed; Junya Enoki (Jujutsu Kaisen) joins the cast as Inui Seisyu alongside Natsuki Hanae (The Case Study of Vanitas) as Kokonoi Hajime and Tasuku Hatanaka (My Hero Academia) as Hakkai Shiba.

Moreover, Masaya Fukunishi, who previously appeared in Attack on Titan and Banana Fish, is the new voice of Ken "Draken" Ryūgūji. The character was previously played by Tatsuhisa Suzuki (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!), who decided to take an extended hiatus from all public activities at the end of last year after an alleged extramarital affair between the actor and a 20-year fan was revealed. Suzuki is married to pop star LiSA, who is likely best known for performing Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba's iconic theme song, "Gurenge."

Ken Wakui began publishing his ongoing Tokyo Revengers manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine in March 2017 and so far, it has produced 28 volumes worth of content. The series tells the story of Takemichi Hanagaki, a burnout in his twenties who is transported back in time to when he was a high schooler. Using his knowledge of future events, he plans to fix his mistakes and save the life of his childhood sweetheart by infiltrating the Tokyo Manji gang. Wakui's manga won the Kodansha Manga Award in the shōnen category in 2020, and as of 2022, over 50 million copies have been sold around the world, making it Kodansha's most successful series since Attack on Titan.
