Tokyo Revengers is an anime series based on a manga of the same name, written and illustrated by Ken Wakui. The series focuses on 26-year-old Takemichi Hanagaki, who at the start of the series is living a pretty mediocre life. One day while watching TV, Takemichi discovers that his middle school girlfriend Hinata Tachibana, and her younger brother Naoto, are killed by the Tokyo Mangi Gang.

After a near-death experience, Takemichi finds himself transported 12 years in the past, where he struggles to right the wrongs of the future. Through Takemichi's journeys to the past, viewers are introduced to many characters that help shape the new future, for better or for worse.

Hinata Tachibana was Takemichi's middle school girlfriend. She was kind and had a positive attitude in any situation. When Takemichi learns of Hinata's death, it has a profound impact and makes him want to change.

Hinata also had a strong desire to help and protect the ones she cared about. Hinata cared about Takemichi deeply, she saw past his flaws and mistakes. Hinata boldly slaped Mikey in the face to defend Takemichi, and even though it was a misunderstanding, Mikey was impressed by her strength.

Kiyomasa is a former Toman member that leads his own group of delinquents called the Kiyomasa's Gang. He puts together fighting rings to satisfy his thirst for violence and cruelty. Kiyomasa doesn't fight fair, and often uses weapons, like a bat, to mercilessly beat his opponents.

With his self-imposed authority, Kiyomasa bullies those he believes are beneath him. When Takemichi challenges Kiyomasa to a fight, Mikey shows up and scolds Kiyomasa for acting without authority. Kiyomasa becomes enraged for being publicly shamed and tries to kill Draken.

Due to his moral code, Chifuyu will never fight his friends. He never uses his position or strength to dominate others, and he despises those that do. Chifuyu also speaks out against things he doesn't agree with morally.

Osanai is Moebius' eight leader, ruling the members with fear due to his violent nature. Osanai participates in an attack on a young woman, whose boyfriend is Pah-chin's friend. The attack angers Pah-chin, and when Osanai learns Toman is looking for a fight, he shows up with his crew.

The fight between Moebius and Toman ends fairly quickly, with Mikey taking out Osanai with one kick to the head. However, Pah-chin isn't satisfied with the outcome and stabs Osanai, leading to his eventual arrest. The situation causes conflict within Toman.

Baji joins Valhalla to get close to Kisaki in Tokyo Revengers.

Baji is one of Tokyo Manji Gang's founding members, and the First Division Captain. Toman is very important to Baji and everything he does is to ensure that the club remains intact and never loses its way.

He is very perceptive and intelligent. He is the only one, besides Takemichi, that believes Kisaki is evil. He even goes so far as to infiltrate Valhalla to expose Kisaki, risking his friendships and his life. He eventually lays down his life for the club and its members.

As Kisaki Tetta's right-hand man, Hanma is a very powerful person. Not only does he wield authority, but he is also incredibly strong. Hanma is able to go toe to toe with Mikey and even block Mikey's signature move.

Hanma loves violence and views it as entertainment to relieve his boredom. He willingly goes along with Kisaki's plans for his amusement. He has no regard for human life, even his own.

Draken is the second in command in Toman

Draken is one of Toman's founding members, and serves as the Vice President, second only to Mikey. Draken has an impressive build, unlike his other teenage counterparts, and is incredibly strong.

Though Draken also has a bit of a wild side, between him and Mikey, he's the level-headed one. After a young girl is attacked by Moebius, Draken makes Mikey bow and accept the anger from her parents. He also convinces Mikey to let Pah-chin face the consequences and get arrested after stabbing a member of Moebius.

When viewers meet Kazutora he has just been released from prison for murdering Mikey's brother. Already a broken individual due to his poor family life, when Kazutora realizes he killed Mikey's brother, something inside him snaps.

For some reason, Kazutora blames Mikey for the incident and his misfortune. He becomes fixated on killing Mikey and teams up with Valhalla to accomplish his goal. Kazutora is a very twisted individual who enjoys violence and believes killing Mikey will make him a hero.

Takemichi is the main protagonist and crybaby hero of the story. By a sheer twist of fate, Takemichi has the opportunity to change the outcome of his future. At first, Takemichi is fueled by his desire to save Hinata.

However, as Takemichi travels back and forth through time, he realizes that more people need saving. Takemichi tries so hard to change and become stronger so he can save everyone. Even when things get hard or seem impossible, Takemichi never gives up.

He has little regard for anyone other than himself and his own ambitions. By driving fear into his subordinates and making them commit heinous acts for him, he is able to escape justice and continue to pull the strings behind the scenes. Kisaki is to blame for everything that goes wrong.
