Tokyo Revengers has become a massive success since season one aired, combining a compelling time travel story with old school Japanese gangster elements. The manga, which recently ended, ran for five years, with several story arcs still needing to be adapted into animation. That's changing with the upcoming animated continuation, which draws from a yuletide storyline in the source material.

Tokyo Revengers Christmas Showdown Arc is the next part of the anime's story, adapting the Christmas Conflict arc from the manga. This is the third of the series' five arcs, meaning that a complete adaptation of the source material is likely. Now around the corner and gearing up for a 2023 release, here's what fans should know about the upcoming second season of Tokyo Revengers.

The Plot of Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown Arc

Tokyo Revengers' Tetta Kisaki in the upper left, Sano Manjiro in the center and Keisuki Baji on the right.

Tokyo Revengers follows a twenty-six-year-old loser named Takemichi Hanagaki, whose disastrous life is made worse when the only girlfriend he's ever had is killed by the Tokyo Manji street gang. Suddenly, Takemichi finds himself thrust back in time to his middle school years. Knowing what will happen if he repeats his former path, he vows to make a better future, and save his girlfriend Hinata.

The new season, Christmas Showdown Arc, will feature more factions of the gangs introduced in Tokyo Revengers' first season. This includes the Black Dragons, a violent gang who target their Toman gang rivals. Taking place after the "Bloody Halloween Arc," Takemichi and the Tokyo Manji Gang have to face rivals who span generations in power. All the while, Takemichi realizes that the changes he had made in the past didn't fix his future, but resulted in a wildly different outcome than he ever could have expected.

The Trailer for Christmas Showdown Arc

The first trailer for Tokyo Revengers: Christmas Showdown Arc showcased still images of the cast members, with each one discussing that they are all going to Shibuya for gang activities. Neither the dialogue nor the imagery gave much to go on for those who had never read the manga.

This changed with the most recent trailer, which gave more direction in terms of the plot and character development. Showcased prominently in the trailer are the Black Dragons, namely their leader, Taiju Shiba. His actions and mannerisms instantly portray him as a ruthless leader. Other elements made clear are the striking differences between some characters in this timeline.
