The Tokyo Ghoul series is too popular to keep down for long, so a sequel to the 2017 live-action movie was inevitable, and that film has now received its first trailer.
Titled Tokyo Ghoul S, the film centers on a character fans have been waiting for to make his debut: Shu Tsukiyama. A bad guy who later became a fan favorite, he'd been requested by fans to make the jump to the live-action since production began on the first Tokyo Ghoul movie.
The plot of Tokyo Ghoul S is a closely guarded secret. Even its title didn't become public knowledge until recently. But key cast members are promised for a return: Masataka Kubota as main character Ken Kaneki, Shunya Shiraishi as Nishiki Nishio, Hiyori Sakurada as Hinami Fueguchi, Nobuyuki Suzuki as Kotaro Amon, Minosuke Bando as Uta, Kunio Murai as Yoshimura, Shuntaro Yanagi as Renji Yomo and Kai Ogasawara as Hideyoshi "Hide" Nagachika.
Shota Matsuda, known for roles in Liar Game and Hana Yori Dango, portrays Tsukiyama. Other cast additions include Maika Yamamoto as Touka Kirishima and Korean actress/singer Jiyoung as Helter Skelter's Itori.
Tokyo Ghoul S is slated for a July 19 release in Japan.
