Spawn creator Todd McFarlane reacted live to surpassing his Kickstarter goal and reaching $1 million for his original figure project.

McFarlane celebrated the milestone with an impersonation of criminal mastermind Dr. Evil from the Austin Powers series. He had a stocking cap on his head, simulating Evil’s traditional bald head, and had padding on his shoulders for added impact. When the goal was reached, he put his pinky to his mouth and said, "What does that mean? It means we have hit one-million dollars! Awesome!" He then turns the camera on his computer and shows the original Dr. Evil repeating the infamous line.

This reaction is more than warranted, considering the Kickstarter started on April 8 exceeded its goal of $100,000 in just a few days. As of this writing, the campaign has raised $1.3 million.

The new action-figure will be bigger than the 1995 original, standing at 7 inches with a huge folding cape, a gun-saw weapon and new  packaging. There will also be new artwork for the comic book that ships with it and an option for an autograph from McFarlane himself.

McFarlane isn’t unaccustomed to breaking records. He holds the record for the longest-running creator-owned superhero comic of all time with Spawn and the first Spawn issue in 1992 beat sales records for independent comic books.

Spawn was a crucial center-piece in setting the dark/mature tone for comic books in the 1990s. The titular character recently appeared Mortal Kombat 11, and there's speculation that a new Spawn movie is in the works.
