Todd McFarlane revealed the cover art for The Scorched #6, the final of four covers that directly homages Jim Lee's iconic X-Men #1 covers.

The Scorched issues #3 through #6 connect to create stunning cover art that nods to Lee's X-Men #1 cover, which was released in 1991. With The Scorched #6 being the fourth and final in the cover series, this marks the first time McFarlane has drawn four-cover connecting artwork during his career. "The X-Men and Jim Lee’s artwork have inspired a whole generation of new comic book artists, and I wanted to tip my hat to Jim’s enormous impact on our industry," McFarlane said. "This marked the first time I have done any connecting covers, let alone four of them! I hope to keep reminding new customers that there was a time in the 1990s when our industry was near the zenith of excitement and innovative styles. Jim Lee was helping to lead that pack.”

The Scorched #1 launched in January 2022 and quickly set the sales record for the "Biggest New Team Book" for the past 30 years. Spinning off of the Spawn universe that McFarlane created when co-founding Image Comics, the group of superpowered heroes and villains featured on the covers includes Spawn, Cy-Gor, Overtkil, Redeemer, Gunslinger, Haunt, Soul Crusher, Medieval Spawn, She-Spawn and more.

The synopsis for The Scorched #6, which releases in June, reads, "There's a reason that only one Hellspawn is supposed to exist at a time: they're not meant to work alongside one another. Putting too many together is a recipe for disaster...as She-Spawn soon learns." The issue will also feature two alternative covers, one created by Björn Barens and another blank black sketch cover.

Lee's X-Men #1 covers similarly features characters such as Wolverine, Beast, Storm, Cyclops, Colossus, Gambit, Rogue and more Marvel heroes gathering to fight Magneto. In the issue, which Lee penciled and co-wrote with Chris Claremont, the X-Men attempt to stop their longtime nemesis from causing massive damage after Magneto raises a nuclear submarine. At the end of X-Men #1, Magneto declares Asteroid M, a space station orbiting Earth, as a safe haven for all mutants.

Along with McFarlane, The Scorched #6 comes from writer Sean Lewis, artist Stephen Segovia and colorist Ulises Arreola, with lettering by AndWorld Design. The issue releases on June 1 from Image Comics, with a final order cut off on May 9.
