After reprising his role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tobey Maguire admitted that he wouldn't turn down another chance to return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Shared by Marvel.com, an excerpt from Titan Comics' Spider-Man: No Way Home: The Official Movie Special saw Maguire share his feelings on returning to play Spider-Man, after portraying the hero in Sam Raimi's original film trilogy from 2002 to 2007. "I love these films, and I love all of the different series," he said. "If these guys called me and said, 'Would you show up tonight to hang out and goof around?' or 'Would you show up to do this movie or read a scene or do a Spider-Man thing?' it would be a 'yes!' Because why wouldn't I want to do that?"

According to Maguire, returning as Spider-Man was always an immediate "yes" for him. "When they called initially, I was like finally! [Laughs] I got the call and was immediately open about coming to do this," he said. "Not without nerves – you know, 'What will this look like and what will the experience be?' But to get to show up with beautiful, talented, creative people and play together? It’s just like, 'Yes!' It’s fun and exciting."

Tobey Maguire Returns as Spider-Man in No Way Home

Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures' Spider-Man: No Way Home featured three generations of Spider-Man on the big screen. Along with Maguire reprising his version of Peter Parker, the 2021 film saw Andrew Garfield return to his respective Spider-Man role as well. Both Maguire and Garfield appeared alongside the MCU's current web-slinger, Tom Holland. To date, the film has earned a global box office tally of $1.922 billion.

Whether Maguire will ever return as Peter Parker in a future Marvel or Sony project remains unknown. However, anything is possible as the MCU continues to explore the Multiverse in Phase 5, which kicks off with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in February. While Sony confirmed in December 2022 that there are plans for a fourth live-action Spider-Man film, no other information has been revealed. However, the potential film would likely star Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man.

Maguire first appeared as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in Raimi's 2002 Spider-Man. He reprised the role for two sequels: 2004's Spider-Man 2 and 2007's Spider-Man 3. A fourth film starring Maguire was considered at the time, though it did not move forward. The franchise was revived in 2012 with The Amazing Spider-Man starring Andrew Garfield, who reprised the role once more for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014.

Sam Raimi Says 'Anything Is Possible'

After the release of No Way Home, Raimi admitted that he believed a new Spider-Man movie starring Maguire was a possibility. After directing 2022's Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Raimi realized that "anything is possible [...] in the Marvel universe, any team-ups. I love Tobey. I love Kirsten Dunst. I think all things are possible."

Spider-Man: No Way Home is now available on digital platforms, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD. Spider-Man: No Way Home: The Official Movie Special is available for pre-order and releases on Feb. 28.
