Yes, Spider-Man trilogy star Tobey Maguire is well aware of the "Bully Maguire" meme that has risen to prominence in recent years.
During an AMA on the r/movies subreddit to promote his new film Babylon, Maguire was asked how he feels about the various memes that have been made about him over the years. "Fairly neutral," the actor responded. "I did see the Bully Maguire videos, which was a funny discovery." Maguire's answer was naturally met with comments of, "I'm gonna put some dirt in your eye" and, "Ah Rosie I love this boy."
Elsewhere in the thread, Maguire joked that he still does the Bully Maguire dance every morning.
'I Missed the Part Where That's My Problem'
The Bully Maguire meme originates from director Sam Raimi's 2007 film Spider-Man 3, Maguire's final time portraying Peter Parker/Spider-Man on the big screen until Marvel Studios' Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. In Spider-Man 3, an alien symbiote bonds to Peter, turning his usually-red-and-blue Spider-Man suit black and accentuating the darker, more aggressive and more arrogant sides of his personality. Peter also starts rocking emo bangs (a phase we all go through at one point or another).
Perhaps the most infamous (and iconic) moment to come from Peter's shift in personality is the scene where he dances down the street to the tune of "People Get up and Drive Your Funky Soul" by James Brown (a scene that would later be spoofed in the 2018 animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse). With his newfound sense of confidence, Spider-Man 3's Peter also coins such quotes as "Gonna cry?," "You're trash, Brock [referring to Eddie Brock]," "You'll get your rent when you fix this damn door" and, of course, "I'm gonna put some dirt in your eye."
Initially, this version of Maguire's Spidey was dubbed by the internet as simply "Emo Peter Parker." More recently, however, he has been given a new name: Bully Maguire. The Bully Maguire persona has become the subject of multiple viral videos, in which he is digitally added to everything from Marvel Cinematic Universe films to Star Wars to Family Feud, showing off his dance moves, rattling off some of his famous lines and often leaving chaos in his wake. He presumably goes to have a pizza while favoring his aching back afterwards.
