Well, that was quick. Director Gregory Hoblit has quit the pilot of TNT’s new untitled crime drama less than two days after signing on, thanks to some prima donna behavior gone horribly wrong.
According to Deadline, Hoblit signed onto the project without having met creator and showrunner Allen Loeb. When Hoblit sent notes on the script to Loeb, the writer was apparently so incensed and insulted that he told Lionsgate TV, the studio behind the show that either he went or Loeb would quit. After Lionsgate had asked Hoblit to apologize to the writer, Hoblit simply quit, forfeiting the six-figure sum that would’ve been given had Lionsgate been forced to fire him. Lionsgate is now faced with the unenviable task of finding a replacement, while dealing with the newly-acquired reputation of the project’s showrunner being difficult to work with and likely to call for your removal, while Hoblit’s stock will undoubtedly have risen as a result of the spat, and his response.
