Adding a bit of espionage to its lineup, TNT has given a greenlight to Agent X, an action-dramastarring Jeff Hephner (Chicago Fire), Sharon Stone (Basic Instinct) and Gerald McRaney (Major Dad).

In times of extreme crisis, when traditional law and government aren't in a position to help, there is an unseen hand that works to protect this country and its citizens from all manner of threats by any means necessary. Hidden from the view of the public - and even from the President - there is a top secret agent who is trained and ready to serve, deployed only at the careful discretion of the Vice President.

Hephner plays the title character, also known as John Case. He's joined by U.S. Vice President Natalie Maccabee (Stone), who might wind up getting in on the action herself as his boss. Meanwhile, McRaney is Malcolm Millar, the chief steward of Maccabee's household and also the one who lets her in on Case's existence.

The Bourne Identity and Role Models writer William Blake Herron penned the pilot and will also executive produce. Peter O'Fallon of Suicide Kings fame will helm the initial offering. The first season is expected to launch its 10 episode run in the second half of next year.
