Leonardo. Donatello. Raphael. Michelangelo. The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The heroes in a half shell have been beating up Shredder, Krang, Bebop, Rocksteady, and many more for over thirty years now. They're also no strangers to crossovers, as they've met the likes of Archie, the Ghostbusters, Batman, and very unofficially Daredevil over the course of their existence.

Of course, with great crossovers comes great responsibility to fight other villains. (That's how that saying goes, right?) Here now is a look at five supervillain teams the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles could defeat as well as five that they couldn't.

10 COULD DEFEAT: The Enforcers

The Enforcers are among the earliest villains that Spider-Man ever faced. The most famous members are the martial arts expert Fancy Dan, the super-strong Ox, and lasso expert Montana, though over the years the team has also included expert contortionist Snake Marston and Hammer Harrison, a top-level boxer that wears steel hammers on his hands.

The trio of Fancy Dan, Ox, and Montana would be no match for the Turtles. All the Turtles could match or surpass Fancy Dan's skills, could wear down Ox, and Leonardo and Raphael could cut through Montana's rope. Even with the numbers advantage in their favor, the Enforcers wouldn't fare much better. If the numbers game got to be too much the Turtles could embrace their ninjitsu skills and fight from the shadows, plucking off each member one by one.

9 COULDN'T DEFEAT: The Sinister Six

Jae Lee Sinister Six

A group of Spider-Man villains the Turtles couldn't overcome is the Sinister Six. Even if you include the fifth Turtle Jennika, the Turtles would still be outnumbered. Unlike the Enforcers, the powers that the Sinister Six possess give them an advantage the Turtles couldn't overcome.

Using the Sinister Six's classic lineup, the Turtles could possibly take out Kraven and Vulture. But Electro, Sandman, and Doctor Octopus would be tough tasks for the Turtles individually - and as a unit the trio vastly outpowers them. And like he once did to Old Man Logan, Mysterio could cast an illusion that leads to the Turtles taking themselves out.

8 COULD DEFEAT: The Frightful Four

There have been many incarnations of the Frightful Four over the years. The Frightful Four have faced off with many of the heroes of the Marvel universe over the years, but their most notable adversaries are the Fantastic Four.

Using the team's first lineup of the Wizard, the Trapster, an amnesiac Medusa, and the Sandman (he gets around), Michelangelo would think Trapster's gadgets are fun and take him out so he could play with them. Donatello would take on the Wizard in a battle of brains and come out on top when things get physical, Leonardo would slice through Medusa's hair, and Raphael would take Sandman out with water from a fire hydrant like the classic arcade game.

7 COULDN'T DEFEAT: The Masters Of Evil

Marvel Masters Of Evil

Like a lot of the teams on this list, the Masters of Evil have had many different members and leaders over the years. They have been longtime enemies of the Avengers for decades and have handed them some of the most brutal defeats they've ever endured.

The most success the Masters of Evil ever had was by the team led by Baron Zemo during the Under Siege storyline. The Masters of Evil overwhelmed the Avengers with sheer power, and the Turtles would have no chance against a team that deadly.

6 COULD DEFEAT: The Serpent Society

Marvel Comics' Serpent Society, snake-themed villains

The deadliest snake-themed team this side of Cobra, the Serpent Society has been around nearly as long as the Turtles have. Their primary enemy is Captain America, but they've faced numerous other Marvel heroes over the years.

While in their early days the team was a force to be reckoned with, over the years the Serpent Society have developed into a team you use as enhancement talent if you want to make another character look good. As such, if the Turtles ever were to appear in the Marvel universe, their first fight would likely come against the Serpent Society and they'd undoubtedly win quickly.

5 COULDN'T DEFEAT: The Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants

Another likely thing to happen if the Turtles ever made their way into the 616 is they'd encounter the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. Magneto would learn that the Turtles are mutants and offer them a spot on his team, and the Turtles would decline because they have the word evil in their name.

The ensuing fight wouldn't go well for the Turtles. Magneto alone could take the Turtles out in a matter of seconds, and though there have been many iterations of the Brotherhood each team generally has several powerful members. Fortunately, the X-Men would be likely to show up to even the odds.

4 COULD DEFEAT: The League Of Assassins

league-of-assassins

This matchup actually has happened before, albeit not one on one. In the first Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic crossover, the League are among the many Batman villains the Turtles faced off with during their time in Gotham City. With help from Batman and Robin, the Turtles won the day. But how would the fight go without the Dynamic Duo?

The Turtles wouldn't be much of a superhero team if they couldn't beat a bunch of nameless assassins. If Ra's al Ghul got involved, that might make things more interesting. Ra's though would likely be countered by Splinter, who would ensure that the Turtles come out on top against the League.

3 COULDN'T DEFEAT: The Legion Of Doom

The Legion of Doom from DC Comics

If the Turtles ended up sticking around in the DC universe, they may be called upon to take on the Legion of Doom if the Justice League were busy. That's a tall task to ask of four teenagers, even ones with high-level ninjitsu skills.

The four brothers would put up a valiant effort, but on a team boasting the likes of Sinestro, Bizarro, and Black Adam, that's just too much firepower for the Turtles to overcome.

2 COULD DEFEAT: The Hand

Going back to the Turtles' origins, they were originally created as a parody of the most popular comics of the early 1980s, including Frank Miller's Daredevil. As such, the Foot Clan was a parody of the Hand. How would the Turtles fare against the OG Foot Clan?

Be it Hand or Foot, the Turtles will always come out on top against a group of nameless ninjas. Depending just how many Hand members come at the Turtles they may need to take a pizza break, but at the end of the day the Turtles will emerge victorious.

1 COULDN'T DEFEAT: The Hellfire Club

A group of Marvel villains that would turn their noses at the idea of pizza is the Hellfire Club. The Turtles would naturally be offended by this and want to fight them. Or they'd come across one of their evil schemes and want to stop them, one or the other.

No matter the reason for the fight, the Turtles would come out on the losing end. The Hellfire Club has boasted several powerful members over the years, and even briefly deceived the Phoenix powered Jean Grey into joining the team via psychic manipulation. Even without the Phoenix, the Hellfire Club is just too powerful for the Turtles to handle.
