WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #114 by Kevin Eastman, Tom Waltz, Sophie Campbell, Ronda Pattison and Shawn Lee, on sale now.

Historically, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have faced some dangerous foes. From deadly warriors like the Shredder to mutants like Bebop and Rocksteady, there's no shortage of threats to the Turtles. Recently, the TMNT were embarrassed by some surprisingly formidable movie villains: Tokka and Rahzar.

This humiliation came in the pages of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #114 Out on patrol in Mutant Town, the team finds Tokka and Rahzar wreaking havoc in the streets. Michelangelo attempts to talk the two babies down but Rahzar is distracted by Raphael's mask, since the red color reminds him of their adoptive mother, Karai.

Raphael swipes his mask back from Rahzar, who bursts into tears. This anger Tokka, who unleashes a devastating attack on the turtles. Raphael gets punched hard, Michelangelo is knocked aside with Tokka's tail and Tokka tosses Jennika across town. Considering the TMNT's fighting skills and experience, it's fairly embarrassing for the turtles to get tossed around by a couple of mutant infants.

Tokka and Rahzar were originally introduced in 1991's TMNT II: Secret of the Ooze. In this film, the mutant infants worked for The Shredder and posed a similar threat to their comic book counterparts. Tokka and Rahzar were recently brought into the comics in TMNT #111, by Campbell, Eastman and Waltz, inadvertently unleashed by Karai.

Both the film and the comic book versions of Tokka and Rahzar completely outclass the turtles. It's mainly these villains' size and strength which allow them to dominate the TMNT. Despite their years of training, the Ninja Turtles clearly don't stand a chance against Tokka and Rahzar.

Moreover, Tokka and Rahzar are creatures of pure emotion, which drives their immense power. This power is illustrated by Tokka's rage-fueled, savage beating of the turtles. Tokka and Rahzar have infant brains, making their emotions a driving factor that increase their power. These raw, uninhibited emotions make Tokka and Rahzar extremely unpredictable.

Tokka and Rahzar's unpredictability sets them apart from the TMNT's other mutant villains. Tokka and Rahzar have no real reason or internal motivation for their actions. Former enemies like Koya or Bludgeon were motivated by loyalty and honor, making them more reasonable opponents for the Ninja Turtles to handle.

Tokka and Rahzar, however, can't be reasoned with, as seen in both TMNT II and the comics. In both versions, Tokka and Rahzar were offered doughnuts by Michelangelo in an attempt to reason with the creatures. Michelangelo was not prepared for Tokka and Rahzar to snap at any second.

In the film, Tokka and Rahzar saw the anti-mutagen cube in the doughnut, leading them to throw Michelangelo through a wall. Likewise, in the comics, Tokka and Rahzar get distracted by Raphael's mask when Michelangelo tried to reason with them. The mutants' attention spans are far too short for anyone to talk them down.

Furthermore, the other, smaller mutant villains could be dealt with physically, unlike Tokka and Rahzar. Of course, these other mutants may have more intelligence than Tokka and Rahzar, but at least they're on equal footing with the TMNT physically.

Bebop and Rocksteady are also much larger than the Turtles, but these two are hybrids with human intelligence. Possessing much of the same petty desires and emotions as fully grown adults, Bebop and Rocksteady are more like oversized gangsters than infants. As such, Bebop and Rocksteady's motivations can be exploited and manipulated to defeat them. Tokka and Rahzar, however, are emotional and uncontrollable mutant infants.
