WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #4, from Ryan Parrott, Simone di Meo, Alessio Zono, Walter Baiamonte, Igor Monti and Ed Dukeshire, on sale now.

Even though this isn't the first time the Ninja Turtles have met a group of Power Rangers, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has brought the most iconic incarnations of these franchises together for the first time. This story has seen Tommy Oliver working for Shredder, Karai, and the Foot Clan, turning his back on the Rangers for unknown reasons. While he did all of this to go under deep cover to rescue his old friend, Tyler, the cult's hold was so strong and Tyler turned Tommy over.

With a trap set, the unwitting Rangers went after Tommy, but all that resulted in was them getting robbed of their abilities to morph. However, the Turtles were then given the power to turn into the Turtle Rangers as part of a last-ditch effort to save the day in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #4.

Over the past few issues, Shredder has really backed all of these heroes into a corner. Shredder has made an uneasy alliance with Rita Repulsa after the Dragon Coin transformed him into the Green Ranger, and he wants the rest of Power Coins for himself. While Rita wants this power for her minions, she agrees to a temporary partnership to defeat their common foes. With the help of the Turtles, Billy locks on to Tommy's signature but they encounter Shredder where they thought they'd find their friend.

When the Rangers try to rush him, they're reduced to their civilian personas. Shredder used a disruptor to alter their DNA so the Morphers don't respond to the teens from Angel Grove. Luckily, Casey Jones arrives to help buy some time, but they all ultimately have to flee as Shredder, Karai, and the Foot are just too much for the heroes.

This leads to a reconvening at Zordon's lair where Billy decides there can still be a group of Rangers to take on the deadly alliance. They hand over the Morphers to the Turtles and Zordon retrofits it to match their DNA. Along with their friend, April O'Neil, the Ninja Turtles are now the Turtle Rangers, and the Power Rangers become the Ninja Rangers, donning masks and medieval weapons such as swords and staffs as they need to arm themselves too for the war to come.

Effectively, both teams swap places with Leonardo as the Blue Ranger instead of Billy, Raphael taking on Jason's Red Ranger duties, Michelangelo replacing Trini as the Yellow Ranger, Donatello becoming the Black Ranger instead of Zack and April taking Kimberly's place as the Pink Ranger.

When they face off against Wyldfyre (a giant pyro-kitten sent by Rita to New York), the Turtle Rangers level up their weaponry as well with April wielding a Power Bow and Raph rocking Power Sais. Leo has got Power Blades instead of swords, Donnie has a Power Staff, and Mikey has Power Nunchucks. They combine them to form the iconic Power Blaster that saves the day, with the public adoring them for their bravery.

Luckily, the Ninja Rangers help Tommy and Tyler break free from Karai at the same time. When they all meet up again, they get ready for their final battle against an army of combined Putties and Foot soldiers and a giant-size Bepop and Rocksteady as the crossover marches to its conclusion.
