The trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is filled with plenty of radical action as it introduces Seth Rogen's take on the classic heroes.

The trailer introduces the four core turtles as they train under the guidance of their master Splinter. The brothers get up to all kinds of hijinks as they mess around with their weapons and eventually meet a young April O'Neil. The teaser doesn't give away many details on the film's story, rather highlighting the tone and comedy.

While little is known about the upcoming animated film's plot, Mutant Mayhem has already unveiled its stacked voice cast that consists of Hollywood heavyweights such as Paul Rudd (Mondo Gecko), John Cena (Rocksteady), Giancarlo Esposito (Baxter Stockman), Jackie Chan (Splinter) and Rogen himself (Bebop). As for the titular heroes in a half-shell, the group will be played by actual teenagers, namely Micah Abbey (Donatello), Shamon Brown Jr. (Michelangelo), Nicolas Canto (Leonardo) and Brady Noon (Raphael).

Paramount Pictures has released a brief synopsis of the film, revealing that the narrative will focus on the Turtles looking for acceptance in a world that simply views them as outsiders. "In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, after years of being sheltered from the human world, the Turtle brothers set out to win the hearts of New Yorkers and be accepted as normal teenagers through their heroic acts," reads the description. "Their new friend April O'Neil helps them take on a mysterious crime syndicate, but they soon get in over their heads when an army of mutants is unleashed upon them."

TMNT on the Big Screen

As for the fans of the franchise, co-creator Kevin Eastman reassured audiences that they have a great deal to be excited about when it comes to Mutant Mayhem. While he hasn't had extensive talks with Rogen about the film, Eastman is confident that his lack of involvement is better for the project. "I don't want him to feel intimidated or think that if he asks me a question, I tell him, 'Well, you should do this,' that he should do that. It's his vision and his idea," the creator said.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are no strangers to big-screen adaptation; Mutant Mayhem will be the series' fourth major cinematic adaptation. The most recent movie to star the heroes was Out of the Shadows, a production that was helmed by Michael Bay and earned negative reviews despite being a success at the box office. Another live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is currently in-development with SNL's Colin Jost attached as a writer.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem hits theaters on Aug. 8.
