The upcoming live-action Titans series, based on DC Comics' Teen Titans characters, will reportedly spend time going into the backstories of its lead characters, including Robin.

Earlier in the week, it was hinted that Raven's mother, Arella, would be showing up on the show, and it sounds like she's not the only one. When the character breakdowns for the series were first revealed, there was a character named John Crossland -- later revealed to be Dick Grayson -- and now it looks like there's an audition tape involving his father, Ben Crossland. Or, rather, John Grayson.

Though the Crossland family in the video are singers, that's just a placeholder name to keep the real identity of the family a secret -- by all appearances, Dick's family will be featured on Titans.

Prior to becoming a superhero, Dick Grayson was an acrobat in the family circus performers, the Flying Graysons. While performing a show in Gotham City, they run afoul of crime boss Tony Zucco, who sabotages their trapeze ropes and sends them plummeting to their deaths in the middle of a performance. Dick, the only survivor, wound up adopted by Batman and became Robin, then Nightwing. No casting for the Grayson family has yet been announced for Titans, but with the series beginning to film in a few weeks, that will likely soon change.

Premiering next year on DC's streaming service, Titans stars Brandon Thwaites, Anna Diop, Ryan Potter, Teagan Croft, Alan Ritchson, Minka Kelly, and Lindsay Gort.
