The Comic-Con International trailer of DC's Titans focused on the dark and moody aspect of the drama. By showcasing Dick Grayson's Robin brutally opening fire on thugs and having choice expletive words for Batman, the trailer played up the angst and edginess of the series, something that only continued by showing the darkness inside of co-star Teagan Croft's Raven.

But while the trailer showed the series' four main characters -- Robin, Starfire, Beast Boy and Raven -- it refrained from showing any official footage from two other superheroes we know will be a part of Titans: Hawk, played by Alan Ritchson, and Dove, played by Minka Kelley.

Dove is the superhero alter ego of Kelley's Dawn Granger, one half of the Hawk and Dove duo. However, in the comic books, Dawn is actually the second person to wear the mantle of Dove. The original character to wear the white and blue costume was Don Hall. When Don died, Dawn took his place to become the new Dove. Well, it appears like the television series will honor that legacy, considering that it's just been revealed that Life Sentence actor Elliot Knight might have been cast in the role of Don Hall.

According to Super Bro Movies, who exclusively broke the news, Knight will join the series as the original Dove, but will only appear in flashback segments that showcase him and his brother Hank fighting crime as the superhero team-up of Hawk and Dove. This more than likely means that, just like in the comic books, Don is dead in the present day. The flashback scenes will reportedly be used to inform the relationship of the new Hawk and Dove duo of Hank and Dawn.

Don Hall first appeared alongside his brother Hank in 1968's Showcase #75 by Steve Skeates and Steve Ditko. The brothers fought side-by-side, and even joined the Teen Titans for a time, until Don died in 1986's Crisis on Infinite Earths #12. Dawn Granger's Dove would make her first appearance two years later, in 1988's Hawk and Dove #1. Curiously, Don is one of the only DC Comics characters that wasn't brought back from the dead, after all this time.

If the report by Super Bro Movies is correct and Don Hall features in the first season of Titans, there is no word yet on how the character died in the past -- but we doubt it has anything to do with a Crisis-level event.
