Following the recent confirmation that the Titans live-action television series will introduce the Doom Patrol in its debut season, Warner Bros. has cast one of that team's founding members: Elasti-Girl.

April Bowlby of Drop Dead Diva will play the superhero, who has the ability to shrink or expand her body at will following contact with a toxic gas. Bowlby will debut in Titans' fifth episode, appropriately titled "The Doom Patrol." She has the potential to return later in the season.

In the comics, Elasti-Girl, whose real name Rita Farr, is one of the original members of the Doom Patrol, alongside Dr. Niles Caulder (played on the show by Bruno Birchir), Robotman and Negative Man. During the course of her superhero career, she falls in love with teammate Steve Dayton (aka Mento), and the two later adopt the young Beast Boy before his time with the Teen Titans. She was last seen in the comics in 2009, where she was Elasti-Woman and technically no longer human.
