Mere days after it was confirmed the Doom Patrol will appear on DC's Titans, the upcoming live-action series has cast the leader of the offbeat team of heroes.

Narcos and The Bridge actor Bruno Bichir will play Dr. Niles Caulder, aka The Chief, although the description provided by Deadline suggests the character may be depicted differently that in the comic books.

In the comics, Caulder is confined to a wheelchair, but the report isn't specific about his disability, only that he is a "pioneer in medical science, searching the world over for those on the edge of death in need of a miracle."

Many modern interpretations of the character have turned Caulder into something far more sinister, who frequently manipulates those around him. Deadline, though, says he "will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need." What that means for Caulder's ultimate motivations have yet to be seen.

The series will star Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly as Dove and Lindsey Gort as Amy Rohrbach.
