Starfire will be a main focus of the upcoming third season of the superhero drama. The end of Season 2 saw Kory's sister Blackfire (Damaris Lewis) take control of Tamaran and proclaim herself queen. As Kory challenges Blackfire for the throne, her backstory will be explored in more detail. "We get a little taste of her origins, which is so exciting [because] even with her memories back, Kory can feel so mysterious," Executive Story Editor Prathi Srinivasan explained.

Srinivasan also teased that Season 3 will focus on Kory's relationship with Dick Grayson / Nightwing (Brenton Thwaites). "To me, Dick and Kory are the heart of the show. S3 keeps that heartbeat strong," she said.

Both Starfire and Blackfire are receiving new costumes for their upcoming clash, and Starfire co-creator Marv Wolfman endorsed the former's Season 3 look. "Anna Diop is great as Starfire. Could not be happier seeing George and my l'il girl get the spotlight she deserves," he wrote.

The first trailer for Titans Season 3 dropped in mid-June and did not provide many details on any of the plotlines. However, it did feature a brief shot of Joker beating Jason Todd (Curran Walters) with a crowbar, which leads to his transformation into the Red Hood. Srinivasan described Jason Todd's transformation into the tortured antihero as "frightening."

This season of Titans will also feature the debut of Vincent Kartheiser's Jonathan Crane / Scarecrow, Savannah Welch's Barbara Gordon and Jay Lycurgo's Tim Drake.

Created by Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti, Titans debuted in 2018. The drama was part of DC Universe's initial slate of original programming until the streaming service shut down and its shows were transferred to HBO Max. The series follows the titular team of young heroes as they face villains like Trigon (Seamus Dever) and Slade Wilson / Deathstroke (Esai Morales), while also dealing with their own demons and legacies.

Titans also stars Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth, Ryan Potter as Garfield Logan, Conor Leslie as Donna Troy, Minka Kelly as Dawn Granger, Alan Ritchson as Hank Hall and Joshua Orpin as Superboy. Season 3 premieres Aug. 12 on HBO Max.
