A new clip from the upcoming fourth season of DC's Titans on HBO Max not only teases Superboy's conflict with Lex Luthor, but confirms that the show will explore Tim Drake's bisexuality.

In the clip, which was revealed during New York Comic Con, Jay Lycurgo's Tim Drake asks Conner/Superboy, played by Joshua Orpin, to take a picture holding his new staff. When asked by the other Titans who the photos are for, Drake says he wants to send a photo to "Bernard, that Star Labs dude." Bernard is Tim Drake's current boyfriend in DC Comics' Tim Drake: Robin series.

Tim Drake's bisexuality was confirmed in the comics in August 2021 with the release of Batman: Urban Legends #6, which saw the character agree to go out on a date with Bernard Dowd. Lycurgo has previously expressed interest in exploring this aspect of Robin's identity in Titans. "From the bottom of my heart, it is incredible to see someone as iconic as Robin to be bisexual. It's not done a lot, but it just shows that things are changing," Lycurgo said in September 2021. "I'm all for it, and it's just nice that apart from having a biracial Robin, he's also someone that is comfortable with his sexuality. I love that fans now have someone like that to look up to."

Titans Introduces Tim Drake's Boyfriend

Filming for Season 4 of Titans officially wrapped in September. Lycurgo debuted as Tim Drake in Season 3 of Titans, who fans might know as the third person to don the mantle of Robin in the DC universe. While details regarding the plot of the upcoming season remain scarce, promotional material has teased the many villains set to appear in Season 4 besides a team of ninjas. Titans recently unveiled the first look at Franka Potente as Mother Mayhem, Joseph Morgan as Brother Blood and Lisa Ambalavanar as Jinx, which will mark the character's live-action debut.

Titus Welliver is also set to appear as Superman villain Lex Luthor. In a recent interview, showrunner Greg Walker explained how the version of Lex Luthor that appears in Titans will challenge the titular heroes with his brand of villainy. According to Walker, the threat Luthor poses is largely psychological as one of the most famous DC supervillains of all time. "He has a very sensitive, thoughtful approach to evil and power," Walker said.

Season 4 was announced during DC FanDome 2021 and is expected to run for 13 episodes. Created by Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti, Titans follows the titular superhero team and stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson/Nightwing, Ryan Potter as Gar Logan/Beast Boy, Anna Diop as Starfire and Teagan Croft as Raven. Later seasons have introduced characters like Superboy, Hawk and Dove, Wonder Girl and Barbara Gordon.

The first three seasons of Titans are streaming now on HBO Max. Season 4 is scheduled to premiere on the streaming service on Nov. 3.
