WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Titans Season 3, Episode 10, "Troubled Water," available now on HBO Max.

Season 3 of Titans surprised a lot of fans with the quick reconciliation between Starfire and her sister, Blackfire. Many thought they'd feud for Tamaran's throne, but they soon realize they need to trust each other as their family back home wasn't too endearing. However, thanks to Scarecrow's latest siege, Starfire suffers a massive loss, and in the process, she regains an old enemy.

It happens when Nightwing's team tries to turn themselves into the Gotham City Police Department so the public can see they're not oppressors. However, a rogue cop paid off by Scarecrow incites a riot, causing the Titans to fight for their lives against the authorities. In the fracas, Blackfire is shot in the stomach, forcing Starfire to flee with her.

She heads to a church and tries to heal Blackfire's wound, but as the energy link's made, Blackfire's siphons off all Kory's energy. Kory tries to pull away, but it's hard to see if Blackfire did it for spite. It doesn't seem that way, but seeing as she's a major DC cosmic villain, you never know. Still, this Blackfire was happy alongside her sister. Plus with Superboy as her lover, it doesn't feel like she's conniving and eager to betray her sister or the Titans.

Yet Kory spews scathing comments, playing on Blackfire's insecurities and indicating she can't trust her sinister sibling. Blackfire then warns Kory about the Titans and that they should be ascending, not allying. They're not meant to play with humanity or lower themselves to work as soldiers with Nightwing's team, which hints the powers may be corrupting Blackfire.

She feels like a totally different person, with Kory admitting she's sticking with Dick's team because they're family. She doesn't care if she's depowered -- it's the right thing to do. As she departs, Blackfire admits she's got her own plans, which could involve luring Superboy, who's head over heels for her, to the dark side.

It remains to be seen if her power-sucking was reflex or part of a long con, but as it stands, Blackfire exudes that murderous intent Kory always feared. More so, with Gotham being ravaged by Scarecrow and Jason's toxin, an angry Blackfire would only add to Dick's woes. Seeing as Kory's mortal for now, she'll also have to tread carefully, which continues to stack the odds against the Titans. This adds to what now seems to be a losing battle on all fronts, and the sad thing is if Blackfire becomes a true enemy, apart from a compromised Superboy, they won't have firepower to fight back.

The first 10 episodes of Titans Season 3 are available now on HBO Max. Episode 11 releases Oct. 7.
