WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Titans #25 by Dan Abnett, Brandon Peterson, Guillem March, Denis Medri, Ivan Plascencia and Dave Sharpe, on sale now.

The DC Universe is being overrun by cosmic debris spilling out of the broken Source Wall, and it's up to the Titans to investigate and repel the energies that are threatening the Earth. After causing the damage to the Source wall in Dark Nights: Metal, the Justice League has passed the responsibility of covering the damage to the same team it forced to disband not too long ago.

Nightwing formed a new team of Titans, with returning and new faces, plus a character making their post-Rebirth debut, Miss Martian, who is appointed to the Titans as the Justice League liaison. Innocent bystanders have started to pop up with strange new abilities passed on from the Source Wall, and the Titans are slowly uncovering its secrets with each new emergent event.

Titans #25 triples the number of incidents, forcing the team to split into three groups to stop them and rescue any civilians caught in the crossfire. Donna Troy gets the short straw by going solo to the event classified as the lowest risk, which of course turns out to be the one that provides the most answers.

Weaponizing The Source Wall Energy

While Donna Troy goes to Bethesda for the class one threat, Beast Boy, Raven and Steel cover the class six downtown, while Nightwing and Miss Martian head to Anacostia for the class three. Instead of finding a rampaging toy brought to life or a woman who's soap opera stories come to life, Donna Troy uncovers Brother Blood's Blood Cult, which is now under the leadership of Mother Mayhem.

After a fight with the Blood Cult, Donna Troy is found by investigative journalist Ben Rubel. Ben was a supporting cast member in Steve Orlando's Supergirl, but now he's researching the emergent events for Cat Grant. The Blood Cult found Ben's lab, where he created a device to collect and store the Source Wall energies. Once this energy is collected it can then be weaponized, which is exactly why the Blood Cult wanted to get their hands on it.

Things were bad enough for the heroes of the DC Universe with the emergent events creating new, untrained metahumans, but now the Titans have to contend with an evil organization learning about its powers as well. With Ben's research and plans in their possession, the Blood Cult can forge dangerous, lethal weapons of unimaginable power.

A situation like this is the main reason the Justice League appointed the Titans with this mission -- while the Justice League focuses on the Totality and the Legion of Doom, the Titans are the backup squad, dealing with loose ends and surprises the Source Wall throws at our heroes. If the Blood Cult is successful in harnessing the cosmic energy, the Titans may not be enough to keep them at bay.
