Greg Walker, showrunner for DC's Titans, teased that the dynamic between Dick Grayson/Nightwing and Koriand'r/Starfire will get complicated in Season 3.

"I love the fans' passion for that. It's in the books, but there's also real chemistry between them. They're the mom and dad of the team," Walker said to Central Illinois' WMBD-TV. "There's a lot of good reasons to want them to be together."

The showrunner added that, while the new season will focus on each of the characters, there will be more storylines centered on Kory and her past.

"I felt while there is a real promise in the Dick/Kory relationship, I want to explore more of Kory," Walker said. "We go into her past, why she is who she is, and why she was sent." However, Walker hinted that this context may cause some problems in regard to Kory's budding relationship with Dick.

"There are some bombshells dropped, at least one, about Dick and Kory," Walker said. "Anyone with a keen eye will be able to determine where we want to go with that."

HBO Max also recently dropped new photos of both Dick and Kory ahead of Season 3. The first image shows Kory in her brand new Starfire costume, which consists of a purple bodysuit with gold accents. The image also shows actor Anna Diop rocking a darker hairstyle as Kory. Meanwhile, a second photo shows actor Brenton Thwaites donning his new black-and-blue Nightwing costume. That photo also shows Dick/Nightwing holding a pair of batons.

Walker's comments about Dick and Kory came about a month after Titans writer Prathi Srinivasan described the pair as "the heart of the show." Specifically, Srinivasan responded to a fan on Twitter who asked about "Dickkory" and explained, "S3 keeps that heartbeat strong."

In addition to exploring Kory's past, it was previously revealed that Season 3 will center on the evolution of Red Hood, the introduction of the new Robin Tim Drake (Jay Lycurgo) and the retirement of Batman (Iain Glen).

Created by Akiva Goldsman, Geoff Johns and Greg Berlanti, Titans debuted in 2018 and the first two seasons are currently streaming on HBO Max. Season 3 debuts on Aug. 12.
