When the DC Universe streaming service launched in 2018, it hit the ground running with Titans, the platform's take on the Teen Titans. Late last year, the finale of Season 2 left fans clamoring for more, but even though the series was renewed for a third season, the state of the world -- and DC Universe -- transformed the show.

Now airing exclusively on HBO Max, Titans Season 3 is set to change the status quo for the titular team. Let's look at everything we know so far about the team's next outing.

TITANS' STORY

Titans Season 3 will continue where the previous season left off, with a new team forming with friends and former enemies until the guidance of Dick Grayson, who just assumed his new persona of Nightwing. The series will also continue to widen its coverage of the DC Universe by bringing in Barbara Gordon as the new commissioner of Gotham City PD, though remains to be seen if she will take the familiar mantle of Oracle or appear as Batgirl. Jonathan Crane, aka Scarecrow, will also join the cast to offer his "services" to the police.

The show's next season will find the team returning to Dick's old stomping grounds of Gotham City, where a new threat has emerged known as Red Hood. Of course, fans will know that Jason Todd picked up this moniker in the comics after his death at the hands of the Joker, but it appears as if the Titans won't be privy to that information when the season kicks off. Season 3 will also find Starfire going up against her sister, Blackfire, who traveled to Earth in the second season's finale.

TITAN SEASON 3 TEASER TRAILER

Joker beats Jason Todd with a crowbar in the Titans Season 3 teaser

HBO Max released a teaser for Titans Season 3 in June, revealing that the team was being pulled back to Gotham. The first look kicks off with Jason Todd breaking into what appears to be an abandoned amusement park and discovering the handy work of the Joker. A mysterious figure then beats Robin with a crowbar before Red Hood makes his first appearance. Nightwing narrates the trailer, explaining to his team that Gotham "breeds a special class of criminal" and people like them die in the city.

TITANS SEASON 3 CAST AND CREW

Though many changes occurred in the Season 2 finale, it is assumed most -- if not all -- of the main cast will return for the third season. That includes Brenton Thwaites (Dick Grayson/Robin), Anna Diop (Kory Anders/Starfire), Teagan Croft (Rachel Roth/Raven), Ryan Potter (Garfield Logan/Beast Boy), Curran Walters (Jason Todd), Minka Kelly (Dawn Granger/Dove), Alan Ritchson (Hank Hall/Hawk), Joshua Orpin (Subject 13/Superboy) and Chelsea Zhang (Rose Wilson/Ravager). And while Conor Leslie's Donna Troy died in the Season 2 finale, behind-the-scenes content from the third season has shown the actress on set.

Savannah Welch has been cast to play Gotham City Police Commissioner (and former Batgirl) Barbara Gordon. Welch is a notable figure in the disability community, having lost one of her legs in 2016. Jay Lycurgo (I May Destroy You) and Vincent Kartheiser have also joined the cast as Time Drake and Jonathan Crane, respectively. Additionally, Damaris Lewis, who plays Blackfire, has been upgraded to series regular for the third season.

TITANS SEASON 3 RELEASE DATE

In the announcement for Season 3, DC stated Titans would air in the fall of 2020. However, due to the coronavirus pandemic, filming was pushed back, and the release window moved to 2021. Titans stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Kory Anders, Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth, Ryan Potter as Garfield Logan, Curran Walters as Jason Todd and Conor Leslie as Donna Troy, with Minka Kelly as Dawn Granger, Alan Ritchson as Hank Hall, Joshua Orpin as Superboy, Chelsea Zhang as Rose Wilson, Chella Man as Jericho, Drew Van Acker as Aqualad, Esai Morales as Deathstroke and Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne.
