DC Universe's Titans started off with a core cast of four characters: Dick Grayson, Raven, Starfire and Beast Boy. But quickly, as the series went on, the ranks of the titular super-team started to grow. In fact, Hawk and Dove both joined the ranks, as did a second Robin in the form of Jason Todd. Then, the team continued to expand in Season 2, with the addition of Connor Kent (who also comes with his canine sidekick Krypto), Donna Troy, Jericho and Ravager. Fans even saw the debut of Aqualad, who died before the events of Season 1.

Therefore, although the team started out with four members in Season 1, the group was much, much bigger as Season 2 came to a close. And now, it appears Season 3 will make even more additions, with Barbara Gordon and the obscure Danny Chase, aka Phantasm, set to appear on the show. With so many young superheroes now part of the series, Titans might do well to splinter the group off into two, and introduce the Teen Titans.

At the end of Season 2 of Titans, the titular team of superheroes suffered a great loss when Donna Troy sacrificed her life. Despite her death, the Titans honored her and united to keep fighting as a team that now included Nightwing, Superboy, Starfire, Hawk, Dove and Beast Boy. As for Jason Todd, after everything that happened in Season 2, he left Dick and the team, choosing to go off on his own. It's still a mystery as to what Jason will do now, but there's definitely an interesting option.

In the comics, the adult Titans reunited as a team during the DC Rebirth era. The team, which included Nightwing, Wally West, Donna Troy and Tempest, among others reconnected and fought alongside one another again. With the older Titans forming their own team, Bruce Wayne's son Damian, aka the latest Robin, took it upon himself to assemble a new iteration of the Teen Titans, comprised of younger superheroes like himself such as Raven, Beast Boy, Starfire, the New 52 Wally West and the new Aqualad. Therefore, there were now two teams of Titans running around in the DC Universe, one of the adults and another of teenagers.

Since the cast of Titans is already large and includes two generations of superheroes, one more adult and the other younger, the television series could benefit from splitting the group into two. While fans shouldn't expect Damian Wayne to show up in Season 3, Jason Todd could occupy his role as founder of the Teen Titans. It would actually fit with Jason's development, who could try to put his own team together to rival Dick's. As the younger Robin, he could go about recruiting newcomers Barbara Gordon and Phantasm, as well as his previous flame Ravager and Raven, who left for Themyscira at the end of Season 2.

There are more than enough Titans to create a second team. Better yet, this would not only allow the series to devote more time to the teams actually working together (something we haven't seen a lot of in Seasons 1 and 2), but it would also be an opportunity to give justice to all of the characters on the show. Instead of having everyone off on their own, the series could simply be split into two threads, and each would allow their respective team members to shine.

What's more, this could even lead to some friction, as Dick and Jason's teams would try to one-up each other or prove themselves the better heroes. Plus, there could be some interesting conflicts that would arise from the drama of having one or several members leave one team to join another. Simply put, there is a lot of potential in creating a second team of Titans, and it could benefit the entire series as a whole.

Streaming now on DC Universe, Titans Season 2 stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Kory Anders, Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth, Ryan Potter as Garfield Logan, Curran Walters as Jason Todd and Conor Leslie as Donna Troy, with Minka Kelly as Dawn Granger, Alan Ritchson as Hank Hall, Joshua Orpin as Superboy, Chelsea Zhang as Rose Wilson, Chella Man as Jericho, Drew Van Acker as Aqualad, Esai Morales as Deathstroke and Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne.
