The first photo of Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka the Scarecrow, from Season 3 of Titans has officially been released.

Entertainment Weekly debuted the photo of Vincent Kartheiser as the Batman villain Jonathan Crane, who is described as the show's own Hannibal Lecter while he's locked up in Arkham Asylum and aiding the Gotham City Police Department.

"Think Hannibal Lecter," showrunner Greg Walker told EW. "He's been given the opportunity to opine on ways to stop villains, and a villain breaks out in Gotham and it draws [Dick Grayson] to work with him."

Walker also added how Crane will push the Titans in a different way than Season 2 antagonist Deathstroke. "So much of our show is about becoming a family and the fears that people have as they grow older and get older," he continued. "Crane seems to be, in many ways, a perfect villain in that he exploits fear. The human mind and heart becomes the battlefield. This is someone who's working off your feelings, and your emotions, and that's where we want to live."

"This is a learned psychologist who understands the human mind but also has a deep, dark vendetta to destroy people in a way that you need to be able to manifest as an actor - to find the broken and the mania," Walker said. "And [Kartheiser] handles both very well."

Titans recently hyped the debut of its first Season 3 teaser trailer, which should arrive later today. We also learn that aside from Titans premiering in August, it now has a firm release date of Aug. 12.
