Titans star Brenton Thwaites went all-in for his stunts. At New York Comic Con, the Robin actor's co-stars praised his dedication to the action, even as Thwaites himself recalled the time he almost broke a man's ribs during an early-morning shoot.
"Brenton went in on these fight scenes," Anna Diop, who plays Starfire, shared with CBR. "I was able to witness them in real life and he just goes someplace that's scary, because, if you know Brenton, it's like where did that violence --"
"I go some some places," Thwaites agreed.
"I enjoy it! You know, that's part of my job that I really enjoy and I think that I'm good at. The acting I suck at, but the physical stuff I can do, so I'm just lucky that they wrote a lot for me," he joked. "But I wasn't that good. I accidentally kicked a guy in the ribs, one of the stunt actors, and I misjudged it. It was 4 am, it was cold and I almost broke this guy's ribs and I've never felt so guilty and horrible in my life. So I don't know why I'm admitting that and telling you that right now, but I feel like it's necessary to let myself down a little bit and maybe tell you that I'm not that great as a stunt guy."
"No, he is! Even our stunt guys were like, 'For a stunt person, he picks up stuff fast,'" she insisted.
During a round table interview, Alan Ritchson -- who plays Hawk -- also praised Thwaites' work. "So walking into the sets the first time and watching Brenton [Thwaites] work as Robin -- I mean, he put a lot of time and effort into what he does. In fact, I walked into a stunt rehearsal for the first time and I saw somebody working the bow, working the staff, and it was just -- it was like, 'Holy shit, his stuntman is amazing!' And then Brenton finishes up and he's like, 'Okay, your turn.' I was like, 'That was you?!'" he recalled.
Now streaming on DC Universe, Titans stars Brenton Thwaites as Robin, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly as Dove and Lindsey Gort as Amy Rohrbach. A new episode debuts each Friday.
