After more than three years in development, the first official image from the Titans TV series has arrived via Warner Bros. Television, and it's one of the most anticipated potential reveals -- a look at the show's star Brenton Thwaites in costume as Robin.

Though Thwaites plays the original Robin, Dick Grayson, in the series, between the stylized "R" on the chest and the staff, this costume definitely takes a lot of visual cues from Batman's third Robin, Tim Drake. The comics-faithful costume was designed by Laura Jean Shannon, whose credits include 2008's first Iron Man film, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and the upcoming Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle film and fellow DC Comics-based series Black Lightning.

Thwaites, 28, was seen this past summer as Henry Turner in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and has also appeared in Gods of Egypt and the Australian soap opera Home and Away. He leads a cast also consisting of Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven and Ryan Potter as Beast Boy.

Titans, based on the various incarnations of DC Comics' beloved Teen Titans teams, is scheduled to debut in 2018 on DC's as-yet unnamed upcoming direct-to-consumer digital service. Here's the official synopsis of the series: "Titans is an all-new live-action drama series that follows a group of young soon-to-be Super Heroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. In this action-packed series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and many others. Titans is a dramatic, live-action adventure series that will explore and celebrate one of the most popular comic book teams ever."

The Titans series was first announced as in development in 2014, at the time targeted for TNT. Earlier this year, news broke that it had moved to DC's digital service, along with Young Justice: Outsiders, the third season of the fan-favorite animated series, which is making its return after ending in 2013. Last month, a Harley Quinn animated series was announced for the service.
