WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Titans Season 3, Episode 10, "Troubled Water," available now on HBO Max.

Titans Season 3 didn't hide the fact it was planning to bring back lost heroes to Gotham City. And with Nightwing's crew in severe disarray after Scarecrow and Red Hood's toxin poisoned the majority of the population, they can use all the help they can get. However, these massive returns foreshadow big problems to come down the line for the team.

The first issue comes with the return of Donna Troy, aka Wonder Girl, who came back from the afterlife and saved Bruce Wayne from taking his own life. She's on her way to Gotham, but as she travels, she faces a trial of her own when she's transported to a mystical plane to battle Lydia.

Lydia wants to test Donna to make sure a monster didn't return in her pseudo daughter's place, admitting the resurrection affected their ritual back on Paradise Island. Donna wins the fight and passes the test, but Lydia's words are ominous. She tells Donna she needs to become a leader, but because she's defied order, nature and logic by returning to the land of the living, there may be deadly consequences. Given Jason killed Hank, broke Dawn and is taking over Gotham, a less-than-human Donna may not be able to control herself when it comes time to take him out.

Raven also finds her way into the city to rescue Gar after the cops tried to sedate him. However, he seems to be suffering effects from the poisoned water, including hallucinating. Now, he's extra loopy, and after attacking officers, he could be losing control of his tiger side. And if that's the case, he may be evolving into a much more vicious creature.

Rachel might try to use her powers on him as a cure like last season, but that could warp his already-fractured mind even more. Trigon already tried to weaponize Gar, and if Raven tries the same tactic, it's possible he'll get control again, especially given how Raven's struggled to control her powers. With Gar desperate for stability, he's willing to trust Raven, but given that she tampered with Donna's body and seems eager to break rules, the final few episodes could be rough for Beast Boy.

To see how Donna and Raven return, new episodes of Titans Season 3 air Thursdays on HBO Max.
