The second season of DC Universe's Titans was a rough one for Jason Todd. After almost dying during a battle with Deathstroke, his teammates began to lose faith in him after some strange events took place in Titans Tower. At the end of the season, Jason ultimately decided to leave his team behind, opting to go out on his own as a crime-fighter.

What fans didn't know at the time was that the current Boy Wonder was planning to leave his red and green suit behind in favor of some new duds. As has been revealed by the powers that be, Jason will pick up his Red Hood mantle in Season 3 of Titans and become a thorn in the side of his former team. However, while this feels like a natural transition for the character, Titans should go even further by allowing him to form his own group -- the Outlaws.

Red Hood and the Outlaws feature New 52

Making their debut in 2011's Red Hood and the Outlaws, the team is a group of anti-heroes led by Jason Todd. On a journey to find redemption, Todd joins up with Starfire and Roy Harper, aka Arsenal, to fight crime on their own terms. Outside of a few appearances from characters like Bizarro and Artemis, the roster of the Outlaws has stayed more or less intact throughout the years, leaving a lot of material for the creative team of Titans to pull from.

With Jason already on his own, all it takes is a little maneuvering to get the rest of the team in place. Starfire has been a mainstay on Titans since the very first episode, helping the team to take down both Trigon and Deathstroke. However, with her sister, Blackfire, coming to dredge up the past, it may be time for Kori to step away from the team after this season. In the case of Arsenal, Roy has yet to appear on the show, but he's been referred to on multiple occasions, meaning he exists in the show's universe.

In its first two seasons, Titans has had issues giving proper screen-time to its vast cast of characters. Now, with Jason taking on a more substantial role, that problem doesn't seem like it will be going away anytime soon. Fortunately, the best way to avoid this is an easy fix, and all it involves is giving a couple of heroes some much-needed breathing room in the form of a new team.

Streaming now on DC Universe, Titans Season 2 stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Kory Anders, Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth, Ryan Potter as Garfield Logan, Curran Walters as Jason Todd and Conor Leslie as Donna Troy, with Minka Kelly as Dawn Granger, Alan Ritchson as Hank Hall, Joshua Orpin as Superboy, Chelsea Zhang as Rose Wilson, Chella Man as Jericho, Drew Van Acker as Aqualad, Esai Morales as Deathstroke and Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne. The first two seasons will stream on HBO Max starting Nov. 1.
