WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Titans Season 3, Episode 6, "Lady Vic," available now on HBO Max.

In Season 3 of Titans, Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) is quickly realizing just how stacked the cards are against him and his crew. Jason Todd has sold out all their secrets to Jonathan Crane, and now the doctor has hired outside help who knows how to navigate vigilantes. As Scarecrow uses all this to his advantage, edging closer to his anti-fear toxin endgame, he leaves scant evidence of what exactly he's up to. However, it does lead to Nightwing channeling his inner Daredevil in one of the show's most ridiculous moments.

It comes after a sword-wielding blonde attacks a hospital, leaving many dead in her wake. Crane's forces have stolen medical equipment, leaving Dick confused as to the real plan. Unfortunately, there's no video, and Commissioner Barbara Gordon refuses to activate the Oracle tech to get more clues by listening in for possible communications between Crane and his cohorts.

It leads to Dick breaking into Gotham City Police Department, stealing surveillance audio from Barb's archives and then heading back to Wayne Manor to work with Beast Boy on a tactic Bruce taught him. Dick runs the audio repeatedly, sitting in a meditative position and telling Gar that Bruce showed his charges how to construct the scene of a crime from just hearing things. It requires Dick to focus, zoning in on subtleties to basically recreate a forensic picture in his mind.

He knows someone with a sword mutilated the room, so he has Gar wield blades, and from the whooshes, screams, footsteps and such, Dick starts calling it out play by play. It's like he's using sonar -- just like a bat -- which reeks of Matt Murdock's Daredevil. All Dick is missing is a blindfold as this is how the Marvel lawyer fights in battle, using his heightened hearing to compensate for his lack of vision.

Gar ends up performing all the moves, with Dick's strategy -- remembering the victims' cuts and splashes of blood as well -- offering a mental video as if he were there in real time. It's cool to see but totally silly, compounded by him waking up from his trance and telling Gar things like the killer's height, gender, dominant hand and more.

From this profile, Dick deduces it's Lady Vic -- someone he fought in the past -- in an astounding deus ex machina that feels more supernatural than crime procedural. One would think Gar, who's totally into science, would question it but instead, he's just glad he and Dick got to bond and clear the air.

He was angry Dick almost got killed hunting Jason, and is worried Nightwing may try to murder Red Hood in return. But Dick assures him there might be hope still and that, as this bit of mystical CSI proved, they're still a family who can work things out.

The first six episodes of Titans Season 3 are available now on HBO Max. Episode 7 releases Sept. 9.
