WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Titans Season 3, Episode 9, "Souls," available now on HBO Max.

After Thanos' snap in Avengers: Infinity War, one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's most tragic scenes ensued as half the population of the universe faded out of existence. Among them was Peter Parker/Spider-Man. In the arms of his mentor, Tony Stark/Iron Man, Peter said, "Mr. Stark, I don't feel so good," and then turned to dust. Now, Titans Season 3 has given its own take on the moment.

The main plot of "Souls," the ninth episode of Titans Season 3, sees Donna Troy/Wonder Girl, Tim Drake and Hank Hall/Hawk trying to get out of the afterlife and back to the mortal plane. In the end, Donna and Tim successfully make it across the bridge between the two worlds, while Hank stays behind.

On the other side of the bridge, "Souls" drops the black-and-white look of the rest of the afterlife, injecting some color into the scene. As this is happening, Tim thanks Donna for her help. However, Tim -- who was shot by Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow in Episode 8, falls down, and blood appears on his body. "Ms. Troy," Tim tries to say, but she interrupts him. "You're going to be alright," she says. "You are a hero, Tim." Soon, Tim ends up back in his body and alive, while Donna returns to hers.

While the actual intentions and end results of these scene are markedly different from the one in Infinity War, there are a number of big parallels. The first is Donna holding Tim, the second is Tim referring to Donna as "Ms. Troy" and the third is the future Robin fading from existence. There's also a big implication in this episode that Donna helped Tim to reach his full heroic potential, much like how Iron Man brought Spider-Man to the next level.

Although the relationship between Donna and Tim is much more abbreviated, it's nonetheless an important part in both of their journeys as heroes. Donna connects with a part of herself and learns how to move forward with her life thanks to Tim, while he gets the encouragement he needs to be a hero. This means that, when the two meet on the mortal plane, they're sure to have a strong, deep connection.

The first nine episodes of Titans Season 3 are available now on HBO Max. Episode 10 releases Sept. 30.
