The Vampire Diaries and The Originals star Joseph Morgan has officially signed on to portray a villain for the upcoming fourth season of DC's Titans on HBO Max.

Morgan will appear in a recurring role as Sebastian Blood/Brother Blood, who is described as "an introverted man with a strong intelligence and a hidden, darker nature," according to Deadline. While nothing else has been revealed about Morgan's version of the character, it's worth pointing out that Brother Blood was previously played by Kevin Alejandro in Season 2 of Arrow. In that DC series, Brother Blood served as a supporting antagonist in the present-day storyline under Manu Bennett’s Slade Wilson, aka Deathstroke.

Morgan is probably best known for his portrayal of one of the original vampires, Niklaus "Klaus" Mikaelson, on The CW's The Vampire Diaries. The actor reprised the role in the Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals, which ran for four seasons from 2013 to 2018.

Morgan will be joined in Season 4 of Titans by fellow newcomers Franka Potente and Lisa Ambalavanar, who will portray May Bennett/Mother Mayhem and Jinx, respectively. Mother Mayhem is described as "a predator in human form with an unfettered belief in her mission in the world," while Jinx is known in the DC universe for being a "quick-witted criminal loner and a master of dark magic with a joy for manipulating others and creating chaos while doing it."

Fans will recall that Season 3 of Titans ended with the team of young superheroes defeating Dr. Jonathan Crane -- aka The Scarecrow -- after the villain spent most of Season 3 threatening the people of Gotham City and manipulating Jason Todd into becoming the vigilante Red Hood and turning his back on his friends.

Following the season finale airing in October 2021, Titans star Brenton Thwaites reflected on the events of Season 3, which also saw his character Dick Grayson die and be resurrected. "Emerging from the Lazarus Pit really feels like he's dealt with that and he's focusing on his strengths," he said at the time. "He's clearer in his vision and he finds his confidence. He finds confidence in being a leader, and trusting himself, and trusting in the Titans. We see full-blown energy towards defeating Crane from that point on."

Thwaites also hinted at what fans can expect from Grayson and the other Titans next season, saying, "It's going to be interesting to see in Season 4 what those new values are and what this superhero looks like, how he fights crime, who he brings into the team and how he approaches villains."

Seasons 1-3 of DC's Titans are streaming now on HBO Max. Season 4 does not yet have a release date.
