As the second season of Titans prepares to begin principal photography, a new casting description indicates a Golden Age hero may be joining the DC Universe series.

A leaked casting breakdown describes a new character for the show as a Caucasian male in his late 30s to late 40s named Jack Cole in the casting call. The character is haunted by his past after dedicating his life to vigilanteism from the shadows, guarding his vulnerability and secret fighting skills with a gentlemanly exterior.

The casting description lines up with the classic character Guardian, a Golden Age hero created by Captain America co-creators Joe Simon and Jack Kirby in 1942's Star-Spangled Comics #7. Wearing a blue and yellow costume and helmet while wielding a golden shield, the character Jim Harper was revived in the 1970s by Kirby as a Superman supporting character, as an older vigilante. The character has since been modified for The CW's Supergirl with Jimmy Olsen taking on the heroic alter ego.

Given the prominent presence of CADMUS Labs in Titans' first season finale, with the escape of Superboy, the character will likely be the post-Infinite Crisis version of the character. Written by James Robinson and illustrated by Jesus Merino, the story had the original Jim Harper killed and cloned by CADMUS with new incarnation haunted by the memories of his predecessor while taking on his vigilante mantle.
