WARNING: The following article contains spoilers for Titans Season 3, Episode 7, "51%," available now on HBO Max.

In Season 3 of Titans Gar (Ryan Potter) has shown he's well on his way to becoming a leader. Dick's mentoring him more now that they're in Gotham, reflecting a bit of the Batman-Robin dynamic of old, while Gar himself has levelled up as a warrior. His martial arts have improved, as well as his strategies. However, he's still mentally rigid, and this is shown in the fact that as Beast Boy makes a big move to save Jason Todd, he repeats Hawk's deadliest mistake.

Gar has had problems dealing with Jason's dark turn, particularly considering his justified concern that Dick would kill Red Hood to save the burning city. He even lashed out at Nightwing for running off solo to hunt Jason, almost beast-morphing before finally calming down. But since then, he appeared to be processing things better, especially as Superboy has been beside him and helped him temper his rage.

It's clear Gar doesn't want to lose another friend, as he still harbors hope Jason's soul can be redeemed. Acting on this, he sniffs around the ex-Robin's room and finds a secret stash where Jason hid a letter from his best friend, Molly. She's an at-risk kid like Jason and one of the people he wants to build a new Gotham for.

Gar tracks her down, and while Molly pulls a gun on him, he asks her to work together to rescue Jason. The problem with this plan is, he's doing it all alone. This is a dumb mistake considering Hawk did exactly the same thing, tracking Red Hood down and keeping it secret, as he didn't want to startle Jason.

This ended with Red Hood tricking him and blowing Hank up, all because Hawk didn't let his teammates know. Had he shared his plans, maybe he'd be alive today. The sad thing is Gar was disappointed Hank rolled solo, so to see him pulling the same stunt is tremendously disappointing. Given that he reamed Nightwing for the same reason too, this whole thing makes him a straight-up hypocrite.

To make it worse, he knows Jason's in bed with the mob and Scarecrow, producing an anti-fear drug. Thus, with the Titans burning the lab down, it's going to get even more dangerous, as there'll be reprisal from the gangsters who lost their opportunity to make millions as distributors.

Gar is endangering Molly and the scary thing is, if Jason thinks she betrayed him, it could lead to a dire end for them both. After all, Red Hood isn't the kind to show mercy or forgiveness. It's plain irresponsible of Gar and looks set to have dire repercussions if he gets this salvation mission wrong.

The first seven episodes of Titans Season 3 are available now on HBO Max. Episode 8 will be released Sept. 16.
