The DC Universe-turned-HBO Max series Titans has cast Savannah Welch as Barbara Gordon for Season 3.

According to Variety, "Gordon is Gotham City Police Commissioner. She used to be Batgirl until she was shot and paralyzed by the Joker. She has a combative relationship with Bruce Wayne. Her life gets more complicated when Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) returns to Gotham, rekindling their old romance and starting a new crime fighting partnership." Welch is a notable figure in the disability community, having lost one of her legs in 2016.

Barbara Gordon made her debut as Batgirl in 1967's Detective Comics #359. After retiring the hero in Batgirl: Special #1, Gordon reappeared in Batman: The Killing Joke, where she was paralyzed from the waist down by The Joker. The character was then reestablished as Oracle, a technical expert and computer wizard who would provide intelligence to various heroes, including the Birds of Prey. She would return to the mantle of Batgirl in the New 52, with an implanted chip helping to explain her ability to walk again.

The character was announced for Season 3 of Titans in April 2020, though no actor was named at the time.

Titans stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson, Anna Diop as Kory Anders, Teagan Croft as Rachel Roth, Ryan Potter as Garfield Logan, Curran Walters as Jason Todd and Conor Leslie as Donna Troy, with Minka Kelly as Dawn Granger, Alan Ritchson as Hank Hall, Joshua Orpin as Superboy, Chelsea Zhang as Rose Wilson, Chella Man as Jericho, Drew Van Acker as Aqualad, Esai Morales as Deathstroke, Savannah Welch as Barbara Gordon and Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne. The first two seasons are streaming now on HBO Max.
