The Naruto franchise is known for its amazing characters, heated battles, and an incredible number of episodes. Boruto continues the legacy of its predecessor by following the life of Naruto's son, Boruto. Although Boruto is a lot more modern than the original series, it inherited the use of obvious plot armor.

It could be a young shinobi getting saved at the last minute by someone who had no reason to arrive at the fight, or it could be the return of Naruto's infamous Talk No Jutsu. Either way, Boruto continues using conveniently developed or appearing special abilities that saved many characters in Naruto.

10 Boruto Uses Naruto's Talk No Jutsu Against Sumire

Sumire and Nue in Boruto.

In Episode 14, Boruto saved the day by borrowing his father's legendary Talk No Jutsu. Boruto convinced Sumire to give up her mission by showing her how negative of an impact her actions could have had on others.

It's good that Sumire surrendered without having to fight her friend. However, she was portrayed as already being committed enough to the mission that she was prepared to betray her closest friends. It seems more than a little inconsistent that she'd suddenly give it all up because of a few heartfelt words.

9 Boruto's Rasengan Catches Momoshiki Off-Guard

Sasuke and Naruto join forces to combat an Otsutsuki god in Boruto.

In Episode 65, Naruto, Boruto, and Sasuke fight against Momoshiki. Sasuke and Naruto show off their amazing teamwork skills and powerful jutsu, proving their capabilities as shinobi. The fight goes back and forth between who has the upper hand until Boruto uses his Vanishing Rasengan and completely dazes Momoshiki.

Boruto's Vanishing Rasengan is especially formidable because it's not always visible. It's a sneak attack that can catch an opponent off guard. While his ability is strong, it makes little sense for Boruto to be the one landing such a decisive blow, considering how much training and experience Naruto and Sasuke both have.

8 Boruto Can Use Three Different Chakra Natures As A Genin

Boruto using shadow clone jutsu in Boruto.

In Naruto Shippuden, all the characters who canonically had more than one chakra nature were either jonin-rank or had the equivalent strength. They also had been pre-established as unusually strong shinobi. In Naruto, it was unusual to see a shinobi with multiple chakra natures and rare to see a genin with more than one chakra nature.

Although in Boruto, Boruto has three chakra types: wind, water, and lightning. Since Naruto Shippuden firmly established that having multiple chakra natures was rare, Boruto's three chakra seem like poorly hidden plot armor.

7 Boruto & Kawaki Are Bonded Together

Kawaki and Boruto in Boruto.

Similar to how in Naruto Shippuden, Naruto and Sasuke were revealed to share ancient ancestors from whom they inherited immense power, Boruto and Kawaki have the same inexplicable connection in Boruto. The idea that these two's abilities are linked and amplify each other's strength isn't outrageous, but, thinking realistically, it's highly unlikely.

As demonstrated in Boruto's sparring with Naruto, the sudden boost that Boruto's abilities get while bonded with Kawaki almost defeats the purpose of his training. The power level many shinobis have to train to achieve is something Boruto gets automatically when he and Kawaki both activate their abilities.

6 Mitsuki Is Healed In Time To Protect Boruto

Mitsuki wakes up and is hurt in Boruto.

In Episode 175, Mitsuki sustained serious injuries while fighting and had to be evacuated to receive treatment. Mitsuki himself confirmed the injuries were so bad that recovery seemed to be nearly impossible.

Boruto, still in the fight, had unintentionally left himself vulnerable and was about to be on the receiving end of a devastatingly powerful attack. Just in time, Mitsuki rushed Boruto out of the way and saved his life. Mitsuki's mysterious and timely recovery was explained to be the result of an anonymous donor.

5 Sasuke Shows Up To Save Boruto & Shinki From Urashiki

Sasuke and Boruto in Boruto.

In Episode 125 of Boruto, Shinki and Boruto's travels are interrupted by Urashiki, and they all quickly start battling. Boruto and Shinki fight hard, but they struggle to gain the upper hand and run away to safety.

At almost the last second, Sasuke makes an appearance and helps Boruto and Shinki get away. Sasuke claims to have been able to briefly track Urashiki's movements and uses this as the explanation for how he got there so quickly. Still, his arrival seems unusually convenient for Boruto and Shinki.

4 Boruto Helps Naruto Control The Nine Tails' Chakra

Boruto and Young Naruto from Boruto.

In Episode 135, Boruto, young Naruto, Jiraiya, and Sasuke work together while trying to defeat Furoshiki. Sasuke and Jiraiya receive serious injuries, and the Nine Tails' chakra starts coming out of Naruto, causing him to lose control. While controlled by the Nine Tails' chakra, Naruto prepares to launch a huge Rasengan.

To prevent the damage a giant Rasengan would cause, Boruto approaches Naruto. Boruto manages to calm Naruto down, help him funnel the orange chakra into a Rasengan, and together they both attack and completely eliminate Furoshiki. The episode doesn't explain how Boruto calmed down Naruto and leaves it a mystery for fans to question.

3 Boruto's Jougan Gets A Power Boost & Saves The Day

Boruto Uzumaki Vs Kawaki in Boruto.

In Episode 208, Boruto's Jougan received a sudden powerful boost of energy and every one of Boruto's abilities was exponentially strengthened, giving him incredible power. It seemed as if someone had taken control of Boruto's body when he started to speak, and someone else's voice was heard.

Boruto, Mitsuki, Kawaki and Sasuke went from fighting desperately and still losing to staring at their defeated opponent in a matter of minutes. Boruto's power-up was so unexpected that even the show's characters were left waiting for an explanation.

2 Boruto Learns & Improves The Rasengan In Under A Week

Boruto's Rasengan in Boruto.

In Boruto: Naruto the Movie, Sasuke requires Boruto to have learned the Rasengan before he agrees to take Boruto on as an apprentice. Boruto trains nonstop with Konohamaru to learn the jutsu and manages to learn it in five days.

Boruto demonstrates his Rasengan for Sasuke, but he is disappointed when he believes he failed and runs away. Instead of failing, Boruto accidentally created an improved Rasengan that vanishes after it's thrown and briefly reappears before making contact with its target. Somehow, Boruto learned and improved a jutsu that took the legendary Lord 4th three and a half years to master.

1 Boruto's Jougan Ability Has Never Been Mentioned

Boruto's Jougan in Boruto.

In Episode 8, Boruto has a dream in which he talks to Shiki and receives the Jougan. Before this episode, the Jougan had never been seen in either Naruto or Naruto Shippuden.

Similar to the Sharingan, this ability seemed to appear randomly because Boruto needed to have a strong jutsu for the sake of the plot. The Jougan has little to no foreshadowing and almost no explanation. This allows the Jougan to, in later battles, give Boruto a random power boost and save the day.
