Netflix's true-crime documentary Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness took the world by storm, and the phemonenon is set to continue with a new limited series starring Kate McKinnon.

McKinnon, best known for her roles in Ghostbusters: Answer The Call and Saturday Night Live, will portray Carole Baskin, the CEO of Big Cat Rescue. As depicted on Tiger King, Baskin came to frequent blows with Joe "Exotic" Maldonado-Passage.

The show, titled Joe Exotic, is currently in development at Universal Content Productions, with McKinnon attached as an executive producer in addition to starring. No streaming service or network has picked up the series, which was announced last fall.

Based on the Joe Exotic podcast, Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness follows the true story of Joe Maldonado-Passage, better known as "Joe Exotic." Maldonado-Passage attempted to hire a hitman to kill Baskin after she won a lawsuit against him, but he was eventually arrested and convicted for two counts of murder of hire, as well as several counts of animal abuse. He is currently serving 22 years in federal prison

All episodes of Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness are currently streaming on Netflix.
