Netflix's true crime documentary miniseries Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness has taken the world by storm. While its eponymous subject is currently incarcerated, one of the miniseries' biggest miniseries remains unresolved: What became of animal rights activist Carole Baskin's missing husband Don Lewis?
Baskin and the final fate of her declared-dead husband will be the subject of a new documentary miniseries on true-crime cable network Investigation Discovery, tentatively titled Investigating the Strange World of Joe Exotic. According to I.D., the series will reveal "the secrets only Joe knows" and feature "exclusive footage that has never been shown."
As recounted in the Netflix documentary, Don Lewis disappeared on Aug. 18, 1997, with the vast majority of multi-million dollar estate left to Baskin. In light of the Tiger King's surge in popularity, Florida law enforcement officials have called for authorities to revisit the open cold case.
A scripted television adaptation is currently in development at Universal, with Saturday Night Live star Kate McKinnon attached to portray Baskin. And while a follow-up series to Tiger King has not been announced by Netflix, the streaming service will be adding a new episode to the documentary miniseries.
