Amazon has renewed The Tick following the positive reception for the first half of the superhero action-comedy's debut season.
The 10-episode Season 2 is expected to begin production later this year, ahead of a 2019 premiere on Amazon Prime. Creator Ben Edlund is expected to return as an executive producer. The second season also will be executive produced by Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld, and co-executive produced by Kit Boss. Peter Serafinowicz will return as The Tick and Griffin Newman reprise his role as the sidekick Arthur.
Based on Edlund's cult-favorite comic book of the same name, The Tick serves as a reboot of the short-lived 2001 TV series starring Patrick Warburton. The show focuses on The Tick, the nigh-invulnerable defender of The City, and Arthur, the mild-mannered accountant he befriends. Together they set out of uncover the mysterious figure behind the city's criminal underworld.
Season 1 featured Jackie Earle Haley as the villain The Terror. The season also featured Valorie Curry as Dot, Brendan Hines as Superian, Yara Martinez as Miss Lint, Scott Speiser as Overkill, Michael Cerveris as Ramses IV and Alan Tudyk as the voice of Dangerboat.
The Tick debuted in August 2017. As previously announced, the series will return Feb. 23 with episodes 7-12 to finish out the season. A special trailer was released earlier this month advertising the six new episodes that will be available to stream.
