When Baron Zemo disguised his Masters of Evil into the heroic Thunderbolts, most of the team rebelled against his evil plans to continue following the heroic path, and Dr. Karla Sofen/Moonstone went along with her heroic teammates as Meteorite.

Of course, Moonstone has shown time and time again that she is a master manipulator who only cares about herself, and while her relationship with the other Thunderbolts members remains strong, they also know she'll only work alongside them for as long as it suits her purposes.

10 Murderous Psychologist

Karla's mother worked long and hard to save enough money so that her daughter wouldn't have to live the same life she had, and Karla was able to get an M.D. in Psychiatry, though she wasn't the best doctor a patient could have.

Karla's relationships with her patients have ranged from subtle manipulations in order to maintain her income all the way to her convincing depressed patients to commit suicide for her own sick enjoyment. She even potentially rewarded her mother for her education by possibly suffocating her in her sleep and setting her house on fire.

9 Worked With Doctor Faustus

Doctor Faustus is another criminal mastermind/psychiatrist that has plagued Captain America for years, and Karla Sofen's first appearance came during one of his attempts to terrorize New York City using stolen weapon technology.

Karla hadn't quite been developed into her Moonstone persona quite yet so she had a very different appearance, though her association with another deranged doctor early in her career only further defined her later persona.

8 Stole Her Moonstone

The first Moonstone was a man named Lloyd Bloch, who bonded with a mysterious moon rock that he found while robbing a museum, using his powers to try to take out and then replace Captain America.

Dr. Sofen used her credentials to get into Bloch's cell and manipulate him into rejecting the powerful Moonstone, allowing her to bond with it and gaining incredible strength, durability, the ability to fly at extreme speeds, emit powerful blasts of energy, and phase her body through intangibility.

7 Debuted Against The Hulk

Dr. Sofen's first appearance as the new Moonstone occurred before the explanation of how she had taken over the role, but she quickly demonstrated her familiarity with her new abilities and her power levels when she encountered the Hulk.

While Hulk was able to shrug off most of her attacks, she was able to briefly take control of the fight by attacking his mental state during the battle, though Hulk, as always, proved he's the strongest there is.

6 Joined The Masters Of Evil

Marvel Masters Of Evil

While Moonstone has been associated with Baron Zemo and his Masters of Evil for years, she first joined Egghead's version of the supervillain group that he put together to carry out his vendetta against Hank Pym and the Avengers.

She would remain with the team for their infamous attack on Avengers Mansion in the "Under Siege" storyline and would become a crucial piece in Zemo's plans when he created his plot for the Thunderbolts.

5 Created The Meteorite Identity

Zemo's Thunderbolts initially created their superhero identities both to conceal their previous villainous identities and to fool the public into trusting them, which resulted in Sofen's new Meteorite costume and persona.

While she returned to her Moonstone identity shortly after the Thunderbolts were exposed, elements of Meteorite's costume remained in her heroic identity for a time. When Citizen V created a new group of heroes known as the Redeemers, a former Air Force pilot named Valerie Barnhardt joined as the new Meteorite, though she later died in battle.

4 Almost Found Love... Maybe

While Moonstone attempted to lead the Thunderbolts after they rebelled against Baron Zemo, the team was unable to trust her decisions in battle, and after Hawkeye offered to mentor the team, she stepped down as leader.

Karla initially rebelled against Hawkeye's leadership but she soon came to respect him during their time as teammates which eventually led into a relationship where they shared their love for each other before Hawkeye was arrested– though that could have been more manipulation on Moonstone's part.

3 Nearly Destroyed Reality

Karla discovered a lot about herself and her moonstone during her time with the Thunderbolts, and her powers continued to rise both due to training and the increasing connection to her power source.

When the Thunderbolts were trapped on Counter-Earth, she was able to steal that world's moonstone and increase her own power even further. After they had returned and Zemo's plan to control the Wellspring of Power failed, that energy was absorbed by Moonstone and she lost control, threatening all of reality until she was defeated and left comatose by the Avengers and Thunderbolts.

2 Dark Avengers

While Moonstone often worked alongside the more heroic Thunderbolts (usually hoping to manipulate them in some way) she also often found herself fighting on the wrong side of the various wars that threatened the Marvel universe.

She wore Carol Danvers' Ms. Marvel costume as one of Norman Osborn's Dark Avengers and then later ripped off her Captain Marvel outfit alongside the second iteration of the Dark Avengers before later siding with Zemo & Hydra during the Secret Empire, and even worked with King Laufey and Malekith the Dark Elf during the War of the Realms.

1 Lost In Time

Moonstone would continue working in the Thunderbolts Program after it fell under the leadership of Luke Cage and operated out of the superpowered prison known as The Raft, where she was imprisoned after her role in Osborn's Dark Reign.

A group of Thunderbolts that included Moonstone became lost in time after a failed escape attempt, and they bounced to different time periods, becoming the American Thunderbolts during WWII and even meeting earlier versions of the Thunderbolts before they found their way back.
