Netflix has released an official trailer for its superhero comedy Thunder Force.

The film stars Melissa McCarthy as Lydia Samuels and Octavia Spencer as Emily Stanton. Lydia and Emily are estranged childhood friends, with Lydia looking to reconnect with Emily after the latter creates a serum that grants superpowers. Lydia is accidentally injected with the formula, which grants her superhuman strength; Emily has granted herself the power of invisibility. Together, the fight the criminals plaguing the city of Chicago while rekindling their friendship.

True to form, the Thunder Force trailer features several hilarious moments -- including a gag about how tricky it is to wash superhero suits and Emily delivering a prolonged tazing to a criminal. The trailer is also scored to "Thunderstruck" by AC/DC and "Kiss From A Rose" by Seal, which also featured in Iron Man 2 and Batman Forever respectively.

In addition to McCarthy and Spencer, Thunder Force's cast includes Bobby Cannavale as the main villain "The King," with Jason Bateman as a man with crab pincers for hands and Pom Klemetieff as one of The King's henchwomen. Thunder Force is written and directed by Ben Falcone, who previously directed McCarthy in several films including the HBO Max original film Superintelligence. Falcone and McCarthy also serve as producers on the film.

Written and directed by Ben Falcone, Thunder Force will be available to stream on Netflix on April 9.
