‘Thor: The Dark World’ Shooting New Scenes With Hiddleston, Hopkins

Principal photography might be done on Thor: The Dark World, but director Alan Taylor and Marvel Studios are still hammering away at the sequel, and even adding new scenes featuring Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Anthony Hopkins’ Odin.

While talking to Collider over the weekend at D23, Taylor explained that many of the new scenes are being shot as a way to make the film better, not fix mistakes as some presume.

“We’re adding scenes, creating scenes, writing scenes for the first time,” he said when asked about new elements recently shot with Hiddleston. “The one you’re talking about is a fun connective scene.” He added that they wanted to do more with a character the audience so clearly enjoys.

When asked what stage he’s at in the editing process, Taylor said, “the crazy, chicken-running-around-with-the-head-cut-off phase, which I think is a not uncommon procedure at Marvel.”

He revealed they’re shooting more scenes with Hopkins this week. “We continue to, as Kevin Feige calls it, ‘plus’ the movie,” he said. “There are new scenes being added, even now.”

Thor: The Dark World opens Nov. 8.
