In the opening scene of Taika Waititi's film, Thor took on Surtur in the fire realm, Muspelheim, to find out Odin's whereabouts following the events of Thor: The Dark World, eventually defeating the monster. Joyner took to Instagram to unveil a couple takes of the dragon Surtur had defending him, including the concept art of when it gets decapitated at the Bifrost Bridge after trying to chase Thor.

Joyner also revealed concept art for Surtur's minions, which Thor had to fight off with his trusty hammer, Mjolnir, just before he takes out the fire demon and carries its skull back to Asgard as a trophy. Despite all of these antics, Surtur would get the last laugh in the movie, destroying Asgard and bringing about Ragnarok as prophesied.

In theaters now, Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi and stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk and Anthony Hopkins as Odin.
