Marvel Studios artist Andy Park has shared his concept art for a battle-weary Thor from Taika Waititi's highly-acclaimed threequel Thor: Ragnarok. Park, who has shared numerous pieces of concept art from Marvel Studios films in the past, calls it a "roadworn" look for the Odinson.
The image depicts Thor in his battle-suit, sporting his long, blonde locks, apparently tired from journeying across the cosmos. In the film, this version of the Avenger was seen hunting the fire-demon Surtur while revealing his escapades across the galaxy were part of his quest to learn more about the Infinity Stones, a journey he embarked on in vain after Avengers: Age of Ultron.
Park's image was captioned, "Approved concept design I did of Thor's "roadworn" look from #ThorRagnarok Loved how Taika wanted to take him in new directions #thor" . This, of course, ties into the change in the character that Waititi helmed, cutting his hair and stripping Chris Hemsworth of the iconic comic book look that had been presented in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the hero debuted in 2011's Thor.
Thor: Ragnarok is currently in theaters worldwide, and has earned nearly universal praise from critics and fans alike. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Cate Blanchett, Tom Hiddleston, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, Idris Elba, and Karl Urban.
