Thor: Ragnarok's Loki and Valkyrie go Head to Head in New Photo

Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok

Tessa Thompson's Valkyrie is new to the Thor franchise, but it hasn't taken her long to get into a scuffle with Loki. The proof is in a brand new photo from the set of Thor: Ragnarok.

In the exclusive photo from Entertainment WeeklyCreed's Tessa Thompson makes her presence known in Thor: Ragnarok by squaring up against everybody's favorite mythical compulsive liar, Loki. There didn't seem to be any bad blood off-camera, though. “That fight was so much fun. So much fun,” Thompson said.

“First of all, the choreography was really punchy and physical, not as much sword work which sort of keeps you at arm’s length with people," she said. "I think because Tom’s character is involved there’s a cheekiness to that fight that made it just really fun -- it just felt like a tennis match. I don’t know if it remains but there were a lot of one-liners between us. So it has a real sort of sense of humor.”

Despite Valkyrie and Loki scrapping in the photo, Thompson revealed that initially her character has more in common with Loki than the titular character, Thor.

“Eventually she figures out [Loki’s] not to be trusted,” she said. “I just think there’s something about two folks that kind of come from the same place in a sense, that have the same chip on their shoulder in a way. There’s a thin line between how much they hate and love each other.”

In the Ragnarok trailer, viewers see Thor assemble a team to take down the newly released Hela, destroyer of Asgard. Thor's roster consists of the God of Thunder himself, Hulk, Loki and Valkyrie. Evidently, the latter two characters got over their differences and came to fight for the greater good.
