Though Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Ragnarok” has an all-star cast lined up, one important name is missing: Natalie Portman's Jane Foster. While this could be blamed on the fact that only a few scenes taking place on Earth, the real reason seems to be that Thor and Jane broke up.

Thor left his teammates behind in “Avengers: Age of Ultron” to investigate the Infinity Stones, which hasn’t left much time for romance. “He’s off exploring the universe, still trying to police it and control the mayhem,” Hemsworth told Entertainment Weekly. “But he’s certainly enjoying being a drifter, being a solo cowboy out there.”

After landing on the warrior planet Sakaar, Thor will encounter a new character named Valkyrie. The duo will undoubtedly fight side-by-side in the Grandmaster’s gladiator pits, but it remains to be seen if love will blossom between the two. “We wanted Thor to encounter somebody that was near his equal and that his relationship with Jane may have evolved in unexpected ways in between ‘The Dark World’ and ‘Ragnarok’ and we wanted to pit him against a character who was much more his equal and in many ways his superior,” Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said. “Valkyrie is trying to not embrace any sort of Asgardian heritage that she has. Thor thinks maybe that will create a bond between them and, on the contrary, she wants to forget it all entirely.”

Last August, Portman said that -- as far as she knows -- she’s “done” with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “I don’t know if maybe one day they’ll ask for an ‘Avengers 7’ or something,” she said. “As far as I know I’m done, but it was a great thing to be a part of.”

Directed by Taika Waititi, “Thor: Ragnarok” stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Mark Ruffalo Idris Elba, Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban and Anthony Hopkins. The film opens Nov. 3, 2017.
