The comics world paid homage Monday to the King himself on what would have been the 100th birthday of legendary artist Jack Kirby. Marvel Studios offered its own tribute to one of the architects of the Marvel Universe with the debut of a new Kirby-inspired logo for Thor: Ragnarok.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige unveiled the logo on Twitter, characterizing the Thor sequel as "an unabashed love letter to his vision."

As we've seen from the trailers, stills and character design, director Taika Waititi's film owes much to Kirby, not only in its use of characters he co-created -- Thor and the Incredible Hulk most notably -- but in the aesthetic. Flourishes of the signature "Kirby tech" can be seen in the designs of the Grandmaster's palace and arena, and in the designs of aliens and costumes. The new logo is very much in line with something Kirby might've created.
Arriving Nov. 3, Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/the Hulk and Anthony Hopkins as Odin.
